Bengaluru, Karnataka – Late Sunday night the Bengaluru South district authorities sealed Vels Studio, the production house that hosts the popular reality show Bigg Boss Kannada. The closure came after the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) found the studio in breach of environmental rules.
According to KSPCB, Vels Studio is located in the Bidadi Industrial Area and operates without the required permits for air and water use. “They have no official consent to run the facilities here,” said Member Secretary SS Lingaraju. “That’s why we issued a shutdown order yesterday.”
The studio houses an amusement park, a small hotel, and a 250‑kilolitre‑day sewage treatment plant that isn’t functioning. The plant’s failure has left 250,000 litres of untreated wastewater in the area, violating water‑pollution regulations. In addition, the waste disposal practices at the site do not meet KSPCB standards.
Because of these non‑compliances, the KSPCB’s closure order also halted the Bigg Boss Kannada shoot. Contestants were moved overnight from the house to the nearby Eagleton Resort, where they will wait until the studio receives proper environmental approvals.
Bengaluru residents and fans of the show are watching closely as authorities work to clean up the site, restore the sewage system, and secure the necessary permits before production can resume.
