GST reforms truly historic, have been done keeping in mind the most vulnerable: BJP’s Tejasvi Surya

Bengaluru, September 4 – Big news for India’s economy! BJP Yuva Morcha Chief and MP Tejasvi Surya praised the recent GST reforms as a historic step that focuses on helping everyday people, especially the most vulnerable.

During a press meet at the BJP office in Bengaluru, Surya talked about the government’s efforts to make life easier for common Indians. He reminded everyone that last month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised major changes in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) system from the Red Fort on Independence Day. Modi vowed reforms that would benefit the poor, farmers, small entrepreneurs, students, and youth across the country.

The GST Council recently wrapped up a crucial meeting, where Union Finance Minister announced some groundbreaking GST reforms. Surya explained that these changes are designed to support ordinary citizens and boost India’s economy.

He highlighted some key benefits of the new GST system:
– Zero GST on educational materials, making education more affordable.
– Zero GST on many life-saving and cancer medicines.
– Only 5% GST on essential medicines and agricultural equipment.
– No GST on medical and life insurance plans.

Surya urged families to buy medical insurance, stressing that India is among the few countries offering zero GST on health and life insurance. “Protection for you and your loved ones is very important,” he said.

The reforms also include a major simplification of the GST slabs, reducing complexity and making life easier for businesses. The new system consolidates multiple tax slabs into just two, with 90% of goods and services falling under the 5% rate. This move will boost manufacturing, small businesses, and startups—leading to more jobs and economic growth.

Surya added that these changes will benefit small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), helping them grow and compete better. He believes this will make India’s business environment more friendly and productive.

He explained that the reforms will:
– Ease the paperwork and compliance burden for small businesses,
– Stimulate the economy by focusing on essential sectors like education, healthcare, and farming,
– Encourage greater consumption, leading to increased production, more employment, and a stronger economy.

BJP leaders C.K. Ramamurthy and K.S. Naveen also attended the press conference, emphasizing the importance of these reforms for India’s growth.

Overall, these GST reforms aim to make India’s economy more efficient, inclusive, and better suited for future growth.
