Amaal Mallik, the Mumbai‑based music composer who’s been living inside the Bigg Boss 19 house, opened up about the toughest years of his life during a private chat with fellow contestant Ashnoor Kaur.
“I’ve been through a rough time from 2020 to 2024,” Amaal told Ashnoor. “I lost my pet, several friends, dealt with COVID‑19, and a long‑term relationship came to an end.” He paused, then explained how the death of his dog, Handsome, hit him hardest. “When Handsome died, it was the worst phase,” he said.
Amaal’s mother had urged him to visit the dog when he was ill, but he couldn’t bring himself to do it. Ashnoor listened and tried to comfort him after he burst into tears. In his personal corner of the Bigg Boss house, Amaal keeps a framed photo of himself with Handsome beside his bed—a keep‑alive he says keeps him going on the show.
The composer’s emotional journey has coincided with a shift in the house’s social circle. Amaal’s once‑tight friendship with co‑contestant Tanya Mittal has frayed, especially after a confrontation between Tanya and her friend Neelam. Instead of backing Tanya, Amaal appeared indifferent and later remarked that Tanya is “an attention seeker” who might now feel validated by the fallout. Those words left Tanya deeply hurt, as she had previously been one of Amaal’s strongest supporters.
The unfolding drama continues to add a human‑interest layer to both the music industry’s rising star and the popular reality show, keeping viewers hooked as the season progresses.
