Bollywood Stars Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor Raise Alarm on AI Misuse in Entertainment

Mumbai: Bollywood heartthrobs Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor got real about the rising fears around artificial intelligence (AI) in the film world. They brought up Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s ongoing fight to protect her personality rights, highlighting how AI could shake up the industry.

The duo shared their thoughts at the trailer launch of their new movie, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, on Monday. Varun stressed that tech like AI brings huge power but also massive responsibility. "We might soon hit a time when we don’t even need real actors—we could just create them digitally," he said. He pushed for stronger laws to safeguard actors and artists from AI misuse.

Janhvi echoed his concerns, pointing out that AI’s impact goes beyond stars to every crew member. "I’ve seen how AI has sped things up in the last few months," she explained. "Before, we’d spend hours debating character looks or story ideas. Now, AI can whip up visuals instantly, cutting costs. But we must protect the unique spark that human creativity brings."

She also opened up about fake AI-generated images of herself flooding the internet, tying it back to Aishwarya’s case. Just this month, the Jodhaa Akbar icon filed a petition in the Delhi High Court to stop the unauthorized use of her name, photos, and persona on social media and products. This personality rights battle underscores the growing AI threats in Bollywood and beyond.

Shifting gears to fun, the trailer for Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari dropped and it’s already buzzing! Clocking in at nearly three minutes, it kicks off with Varun Dhawan popping the question to Sanya Malhotra—only for her to say no. Heartbroken, Varun teams up with Janhvi to plot a comeback.

Drama ramps up when Sanya reveals she’s marrying Rohit Saraf, Janhvi’s ex. To spark jealousy and crash the wedding, Varun and Janhvi fake a romance. But as sparks fly for real, their plan hilariously unravels. Directed by Shashank Khaitan, this rom-com promises laughs and twists when it hits theaters on October 2, 2025.
