Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has a big shout-out for veteran actor Mohanlal, who just received India’s top cinema honor, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Naidu shared his excitement on X (formerly Twitter), calling it a well-deserved nod to Mohanlal’s incredible run as an actor, director, and producer.
“Your outstanding contributions have profoundly enriched Indian cinema and inspired generations,” Naidu wrote in his post. He praised how Mohanlal’s work has left a lasting mark on the industry.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi jumped in too, posting a warm message on Saturday. Modi highlighted Mohanlal’s decades-long career in Malayalam cinema and theatre, plus his passion for Kerala culture. “He’s delivered standout performances in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi films,” Modi added. “His brilliance across mediums is truly inspiring. Congratulations on the Dadasaheb Phalke Award—may it keep motivating future stars.”
Mohanlal, humbled by the praise, replied on X to thank the Prime Minister personally. “Your kind words and blessings fill me with encouragement and joy,” he said. “I’m deeply honored by this award and forever grateful to cinema and everyone who’s supported my journey.”
Over four decades, Mohanlal has starred in countless films across genres, mostly in Malayalam but also shining in other Indian languages. His trophy case already includes National Awards, the Padma Shri, and the Padma Bhushan. Now, this latest honor caps it all—he’ll receive the Dadasaheb Phalke Award at the 71st National Film Awards ceremony on September 23, 2025. Fans of Indian cinema are buzzing about this well-earned milestone for one of its biggest icons.
