Alia Bhatt recently shared a heartwarming story about a special birthday gift she’s preparing for her daughter Raha’s 18th birthday. During the second episode of the Amazon Prime show Two Much With Kajol & Twinkle, the actor opened up alongside her friend and former co-star Varun Dhawan.
The conversation turned personal as hosts Kajol and Twinkle Khanna asked Alia about rumors that she writes daily emails to her baby, inspired by the movie Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Alia laughed it off and clarified, "Not really. It was my friend Aarti who gave me this idea. It’s not daily emails—more like a monthly mix of photos and little moments." She explained that she adds a personal touch with one-line notes, like "You loved this so much" or simple wishes for Raha’s future.
Alia’s plan? Hand it all over as a surprise gift when Raha turns 18. "I don’t know why I’m waiting that long—maybe she’ll ask for it when she’s 12 or 13," she said with a smile.
The episode also touched on Alia’s close bond with her late father-in-law, Rishi Kapoor. She reminisced about their time together while shooting Kapoor & Sons in 2016, before she started dating Ranbir Kapoor. "We hung out every evening after shoots. He had the best stories, and we’d just chill and have dinner. I really miss that vibe—and him," Alia shared.
Alia even spotted a special connection between Rishi and little Raha. "People always say Raha is a mini Rishi Kapoor mixed with me. There’s this energy of his that she shows sometimes—it’s amazing."
Reflecting on her place in the iconic Kapoor family, Alia admitted it feels deeply personal rather than just a Bollywood legacy. "You don’t think about the professional side when it’s so close to your heart," she noted. It wasn’t until celebrating 100 years of Raj Kapoor—Raha’s great-grandfather—that the full family link hit home for her.
Alia and Ranbir Kapoor tied the knot in April 2022 after years of dating. Their daughter Raha arrived in November that same year. The couple made fans melt by debuting Raha publicly on Christmas 2023.
On the work front, Alia Bhatt is gearing up for her action-packed role in Alpha, directed by Shiv Rawail. This spy thriller joins Yash Raj Films’ popular universe and hits theaters on December 25.
