Los Angeles, Oct. 22 – Hollywood star Christina Applegate is writing a new chapter for her career.
She’s preparing to release her first memoir, “You with the Sad Eyes: A Memoir,” next year. The book promises to open up a side of Applegate’s life that many have never seen.
The 53‑year‑old actress, who first grabbed the spotlight as the quirky Kelly Bundy on Married… with Children, talks about her early years in the legendary Laurel Canyon music scene of the ’70s and ’80s. She then traces her path to fame and her later roles in films such as Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead, The Sweetest Thing, Anchorman, and Bad Moms.
People magazine says Applegate’s memoir will dissect her “tumultuous” past and her years under the spotlight. Readers will get a raw, dark‑humor look into her journey from childhood star to iconic comedian, as she talks about abuse, abandonment, body dysmorphia, assault, and other hard‑hit moments the public rarely sees.
In a recent statement, Applegate explained why she wrote the book: “I wrote this because I truly believe that books can make people feel less alone. I promise, You with the Sad Eyes won’t be a big, dramatic run‑through of my life. It will be real.” She added, “It will be filled with the ups and downs, the humor and grief of life. So here I am. Real me. Lots to say.”
The Emmy‑winning actress revealed her two‑sided battle with multi‑scoliosis (MS) in 2021. She says writing the book happened when she had to slow down because of the diagnosis. “All the things I thought were important shifted,” she told reporters. “For a long time, I couldn’t find meaning in everything I’d been through, but for the first time, I’ve been able to stop and reflect.”
Fans of Hollywood and funnies can look forward to an honest, heart‑felt story of a woman who’s faced hardship, survived it, and found humor in everything. Stay tuned for the release of Christina Applegate’s memoir – it’s set to hit shelves next year.
