Los Angeles, Oct 22 – Hollywood star Dakota Johnson, 36, opened up about what it feels like to grow up with famous parents. In a recent interview with Vogue, the actress talked about the challenges and perks of living in the spotlight.
Johnson is the daughter of actress Melanie Griffith and actor‑singer Don Johnson, and she is also the stepdaughter of Antonio Banderas, who was married to Griffith from 1996 to 2015. She said that as a child, “there were times when it was really scary, and people would aggressively and physically try to get to my mom when we were just going to the supermarket or something.” The constant attention made her feel vulnerable, especially when strangers pressed for personal information.
She explained that growing up as a celebrity child can create “a lot of complexes.” The public knows personal details, making privacy hard to maintain. “So yes, there are downsides, but there are also incredible upsides,” Johnson said. She shared that being surrounded by Hollywood people from a young age was normal for her. “I grew up on set and was always surrounded by people who made movies. I mean, I was born in Texas because my dad worked there, so I always knew that my family’s profession was different from, say, my schoolmates whose moms went to the office every day.”
Making friends was difficult because her family moved frequently. “I always just accepted it. This is what we do. It’s in our blood,” she added.
Johnson has six siblings on her parents’ sides. She talked about how those experiences shaped her perspective on fame and family, showing that every story in Hollywood has both bright moments and hard lessons.
