Farhan Akhtar told the world that the most prized trophy he keeps isn’t a statue or a certificate – it’s a handwritten note from Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan.

The story unfolded on the set of “Kaun Banega Crorepati” (KBC) when the two celebrated Big B’s 83rd birthday. While resting in the hot‑seat for a special episode, Farhan shared the surprise with the audience. “Everyone knows how much you enjoy writing letters, Amitabh,” he said. “In my office, I’ve got a corner where I display all my films’ awards. Next to those, I’ve placed your handwritten note from when you saw Dil Chahta Hai.” He added that the letter was the most prestigious award he owns.

Amitabh light‑heartedly reflected on how he has known Farhan since his childhood. “When you became a director and started making such fresh films, it was eye‑opening. Dil Chahta Hai really changed the game, and I just had to write to you.” The heartfelt moment reminded fans of the deep mutual respect between the two.

During the same episode, Amitabh recreated an iconic scene from his 1973 debut Zanjeer. Together with screenwriter Javed Akhtar, he mouthed classic lines: “Jab tak baithne ko na kaha jaaye sharafat se khade raho; yeh police station hai; tumhare baap ka ghar nahi.” The line underscores the film’s gritty realism. Zanjeer starred Jaya Bhaduri, Pran, Ajit Khan and Bindu, and was directed by Prakash Mehra.

The movie launched a long‑lasting partnership between Big B, the legendary writer duo Salim–Javed, and producer Prakash Mehra. It gave Amitabh a breakthrough role that led to blockbuster hits like Deewaar and Sholay, solidifying his superstar status. The story follows Vijay, a suspended police inspector who hunts his parents’ killers while forming unexpected alliances.

The KBC episode airs on Sony Entertainment Television and is available for streaming on Sony LIV. The heart‑warming letters and old‑school action scenes have once again reminded fans of the magic that still lives in Bollywood.
