‘Fast and Furious’ star Tyrese Gibson arrested after his dogs killed neighbor’s pooch outside Georgia home

Tyrese Gibson, the actor best known for his role as Roman Pearce in the “Fast & Furious” series, was taken into custody in Fulton County, Georgia, on Friday. Police say the 46‑year‑old owner of four large mastiff‑type dogs was arrested for animal cruelty after the dogs allegedly mauled a neighbor’s 5‑year‑old King Charles spaniel named Henry.

The incident happened on the evening of September 18, when the dogs escaped Gibson’s home and attacked Henry outside a nearby house. Video from a front‑door camera shows the dogs prowling the yard and one barking at the door minutes before the attack. The video was later shared by Fox 5 Atlanta and CBS News Atlanta. The owner of the spaniel, Harrison Parker, described the scene as a “horrible” loss, saying he found his dog’s body covered in white fur in his yard.

When Gibson turned himself in around 6 a.m. at the Fulton County Jail, he faced a single misdemeanor charge of cruelty to animals. The actor was released on a $20,000 bond shortly after. He said he had brought the dogs onto his property after being invaded by strangers at his home, hoping the large animals would protect his family. His lawyer, Gabe Banks, noted that Gibson “immediately” decided to rehome the dogs after the incident. The pets had already been warned by authorities to be kept on a tighter leash, and Gibson had missed a September 22 deadline to surrender them.

This latest escape is the sixth time a dog has left Gibson’s estate in a single week, according to police. The guard dogs in question are large Cane Corsos, commonly used for protection. They were seen on a doorbell camera moments before the fatal attack. The incident has sparked concern over pet safety in the South Fulton area.

The case highlights the serious legal risks of owning large guard dogs. Under Georgia law, failing to restrain dangerous animals can lead to criminal charges and loss of pet ownership. Residents are urged to report any aggressive or unattended dogs to local authorities and to keep all pets safely contained.
