Mumbai, India – At the 70th Hyundai Filmfare Awards, held on Saturday night, actor Abhishek Bachchan stepped onto the stage and paid a heartfelt tribute to his father, legendary star Amitabh Bachchan. The event, sponsored by Gujarat Tourism, saw Abhishek perform a vibrant medley of some of Big B’s most beloved songs, stirring a rush of nostalgia among the audience.
During his performance, Abhishek walked across the stage and shared a touching moment with his mother, veteran actress Jaya Bachchan, who watched proudly from the crowd. The night was also a milestone for the son, who took home the Best Actor (Male) award for his role in I Want to Talk.
Directed by Shoojit Sircar, the film follows Bengali man Arjun Sen on a quest to make amends with his estranged daughter, set against the backdrop of the American dream. Abhishek’s portrayal earned him widespread acclaim and the coveted Filmfare trophy.
Other big names were celebrated that evening. Kartik Aaryan and Abhishek shared the Best Actor award for Chandu Champion, while Alia Bhatt won Best Actress for her performance in Jigra. New talents also shone: Nitanshi Goel received Best Debut Actress for Laapataa Ladies, and Lakshya took home Best Debut Actor for *Ba**Ds of Bollywood. Directors Kunal Kemmu and Aditya Suhas Jambhale were honored for Best Debut Director with their films Madgaon Express and Article 370.
The ceremony also marked Big B’s 83rd birthday. The megastar, whose iconic roles span the classic hits Deewaar, Sholay, Kabhi Kabhie, Amar Akbar Anthony, Don, and Agneepath, remains one of India’s most celebrated actors. He has accumulated a wealth of accolades, including National Film Awards and sixteen Filmfare Awards.
The 2025 Filmfare Awards highlighted the vibrant pulse of Mumbai’s film industry, celebrating both its legendary figures and emerging talents.
