New Delhi (Dec 5) – The Indian Army kicked off the fifth edition of its joint drill, “Exercise Harimau Shakti‑2025,” on Friday at the Mahajan Field Firing Range in Rajasthan. The operations will run until December 18, officials said.
India’s representatives are mainly drawn from the Dogra Regiment, while the Malaysian contingent comes from the 25th Battalion of the Royal Malaysian Army. The exercise is intended to rehearse sub‑conventional operations under Chapter VII of the UN Charter and to sharpen joint counter‑terrorist responses. Both sides will run drills on cordon, search‑and‑destroy missions, and heliborne tactics, as well as practice securing helipads and carrying out casualty evacuation.
The program also includes Army Martial Arts Routine (AMAR), combat reflex shooting and yoga sessions. By exchanging tactics across a broad spectrum of combat skills, the troops hope to boost interoperability, reduce the risk to life and property, and keep the United Nations’ peace‑keeping mandate in focus. Sharing lessons learned is expected to deepen defence cooperation and further strengthen the bilateral relationship between India and Malaysia.
In related news, the Indian Army staged its annual Idea and Innovation Competition and Seminar, Inno‑Yoddha 2025, at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi. Vice‑Chief of the Army Staff Lieutenant General Pushpendra Pal Singh attended. Held each year, Inno‑Yoddha is the Army’s flagship platform for spotting, nurturing and scaling in‑house innovations that close capability gaps in operations, logistics and training. The competition underscores the belief that the most practical solutions come from soldiers who face the realities of the battlefield every day, especially in the world’s most demanding environments where extreme weather, tough terrain and evolving threats test their ingenuity.
