Mumbai, India – Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan turned 83 on Saturday, and the film world erupted with birthday wishes from stars, fans and social media posts.
The actor, best known as the “Angry Young Man” of Hindi cinema, continues to inspire new actors and filmmakers. Colleagues from across the industry shared memories and gratitude on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter).
Prabhas, who co‑starred with Bachchan in the sci‑fi film Kalki 2898 AD, posted a photo of the duo on Instagram. He wrote, “Happy birthday @amitabhbachchan sir. It’s a privilege to witness your legacy and work alongside you. Wishing you a wonderful year ahead.”
Farhan Akhtar remembered their time together on Kaun Banega Crorepati. He posted a clip of the show’s set, adding, “Happy birthday, Amit uncle. It was a pleasure and privilege to be with you on your birthday special…wishing you good health and happiness.”
Veteran actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha celebrated Bachchan’s milestone on X, posting old photos and congratulating the icon. “Many many happy returns of the day for our icon and role model,” Sinha wrote, urging the nation to keep him young forever.
Director Srijit Mukherji offered an emotional tribute, recalling Bachchan’s classic roles in Deewar, Shakti, Amar Akbar Anthony, Don, Sholay and many more. “Happy bday to the half-turn of Deewar, simmering of Shakti…,” Mukherji wrote, highlighting the actor’s legacy.
Actor Manoj Bajpayee also posted on Instagram, thanking Bachchan for “planting the seed of acting in me.” He wished the legend good health, happiness and prosperity.
Hundreds of fans lined up outside Bachchan’s Mumbai home, Jalsa, to see the star and display placards and posters in his honor. The gatherings turned into a lively celebration, reflecting the deep affection fans hold for him.
At 83, Bachchan remains active in cinema, appearing recently in Kalki 2898 AD with Prabhas and the upcoming film Rajinikanth Vettaiyan. The actor’s enduring presence on screen continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
