Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath fired up the crowd in Lucknow on Saturday, calling the state’s rapid growth “unbelievable for those who lack masculinity.” He tied this progress to a fresh wave of peace and security that’s fueling fast development across the region.
Speaking at the ‘Viksit Uttar Pradesh Vision @ 2047’ event, Yogi laid out an ambitious plan. “By 2047, Uttar Pradesh will hit a $6 trillion economy,” he declared. “That milestone will realize the dreams of our people. Building a developed Uttar Pradesh isn’t just a promise—it’s something we live every day.”
Yogi looked back at his government’s eight-and-a-half years in power, praising its tough stance against nepotism, casteism, and corruption. “Uttar Pradesh wasn’t born a BIMARU state,” he said. “Bad politics and a toxic mindset dragged it down.” He credited the turnaround to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, faith in God, and the hard work of everyday citizens.
Pointing to a recent CAG report, Yogi highlighted UP’s booming finances. The state’s revenue surplus jumped from Rs 37,000 crore in 2023 to Rs 70,000 crore now. “With such a huge population, we’re pushing development projects forward without any roadblocks,” he added.
Yogi zoomed out to India’s bigger strengths, especially its geography and farming potential. “Sixty percent of our land works for crops and living—way more than the 20 percent in Russia, China, or the US,” he explained. Even though America covers more ground overall, India matches it in arable land. “Our rich soil and ancient culture once made us world leaders,” Yogi said.
He wove in some history to show how far India has come. During Chandragupta Maurya’s era, India claimed 40 percent of the global economy. That share slipped to 30 percent by the 11th century and 25 percent by the 17th. British colonial rule wrecked small industries and stole wealth worth $32 trillion, Yogi noted.
“But we’re rising again,” he said. In 1947, India’s world economy share was just 2 percent. By 2014, it ranked 11th. Today, it’s fourth, and this financial year, India will climb to third. On agriculture, Yogi sees room to grow threefold. “We’ve set the base—now let’s build something solid,” he urged.
Yogi wrapped up by repeating his vision for Uttar Pradesh’s $6 trillion future in 2047, making it a daily mission for all. He also shared Navratri greetings, launched the book ‘8 Years of UP Government,’ and showcased the state’s impressive progress story.
