Mumbai, Nov 15 – Guneet Monga Kapoor, the proud producer of the Academy‑Award‑winning documentary The Elephant Whisperers, celebrated the birthday of her friend and celebrated Indian chef, Vikas Khanna.
The filmmaker took to Instagram on Saturday to share a string of photos and short clips of the chef. In her caption, Guneet reminisced about a moment when Khanna flew all the way from India to New York to help her during the Oscar campaign in early 2023.
Hoping to capture the excitement she wrote, “When Vikas flew from India overnight to New York, he was there to cheer us on and bring his “love and magic.” I still can’t believe it, but if kindness had a face, it is you – @vikaskhannagroup – the most self‑less person I know.”
She added a heartfelt birthday message: “I’m so lucky to know you. You set a new standard every time I see you. You’re the hardest‑working and generous person I know. Happy birthday, Vikas! Wishing you great health, endless love, and all the best blessings. Chardi… (sic).”
A photo in the post also included Guneet’s husband, Sunny Kapoor.
The Elephant Whisperers follows the story of Bomman and Bellie, a couple from Tamil Nadu’s Kattunayakan tribe, who care for a newborn elephant calf named Raghu inside the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve. Directed by Kartiki Gonsalves, the short documentary showcases the strong bond between people and wildlife and highlights traditional conservation wisdom. Produced by Sikhya Entertainment, the film earned the 2023 Academy Award for Best Documentary Short Film, shining a light on India’s dedication to wildlife stewardship.
