Hyderabad, Oct 25 – Director Hanu Raghavapudi explained why the title of his upcoming film Fauzi features Sanskrit shlokas. “We used the shlokas on purpose,” he said. “They lend weight and meaning to a warrior story, even though the film isn’t mythological. It’s a patriotic drama that draws from the Bhagavad Gita’s philosophy while exploring the human side of the British‑era struggle.”
The film stars Prabhas as a conflicted soldier torn between duty, emotion and ideology. After a surge in popularity with his earlier epic Baahubali, Prabhas is back in a grand period drama that promises powerful visuals and an emotional journey.
Fauzi is set in the 1940s, a fictional historical tale that will be released in theaters in multiple languages next year. The script, written by Hanu Raghavapudi, is backed by a star‑studded cast, including Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Bhanu Chander and Jayapradha. Imanvi plays the female lead, adding a fresh dynamic to the story.
The film’s music is composed by Vishal Chandrasekhar, who previously scored Hanu Raghavapudi’s hit Sita Ramam. Cinematography will be handled by Sudeep Chatterjee with lyrics by Krishna Kanth. Sheetal Sharma is designing costumes for this large‑scale production.
With its mix of robust storytelling, classic taste and modern flair, Fauzi is shaping up to be a must‑watch period drama that appeals to fans of historical action and patriotic cinema alike.
