‘Homebound’ screening turns star-studded as Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, Janhvi Kapoor among others attend Mumbai premiere

Mumbai’s film scene lit up on Sunday as Bollywood’s biggest names gathered for a special screening of the highly anticipated movie Homebound. Stars like Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, Karan Johar, and Janhvi Kapoor turned the event into a glamorous night, buzzing with excitement ahead of the film’s release.
Homebound has already made waves this year, earning rave reviews at top festivals like Cannes and the Toronto International Film Festival 2025. It’s even India’s official entry for the Oscars, marking a big moment for Indian cinema. Directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, the drama stars Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor in key roles. The movie hits theaters across India on September 26.
Hrithik Roshan stole the show with his sharp all-black look—a black shirt, pants, and leather jacket that screamed effortless style. Twinkle Khanna joined in, looking chic in an embroidered palazzo paired with a black blazer and gold earrings.
Farhan Akhtar showed up with his wife, Shibani Dandekar, both rocking cool outfits: Farhan in all black, and Shibani in a sleek brown dress. Vicky Kaushal, fresh off Chhaava, added his signature charm in a blazer, black shirt, pants, and sunglasses as he posed for photos.
Lead actor Ishaan Khatter kept it classic with a white shirt, black pants, and a black scarf, arriving alongside his father, actor Rajesh Khattar. Janhvi Kapoor touched hearts by wearing a blue saree that once belonged to her late mother, Sridevi— a sweet and emotional nod that made her the event’s standout. Urmila Matondkar turned heads in a vibrant green dress.
The full Homebound cast, including Janhvi, Ishaan, Vishal, director Neeraj Ghaywan, and producer Karan Johar, posed for group shots, capturing the team’s energy. Veteran Sanjay Kapoor attended with his wife Maheep and niece Anshula, while other Bollywood favorites like Richa Chadha, Orry, Jannat Zubair, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Samay Raina, Medha Shankar, Karan Tacker, Nakuul Mehta, Siddharth Roy Kapur, Javed Ali, Vedang Raina, Bhuvan Bam, Aayush Sharma, Farah Khan, Pratibha Ranta, Varun Sood, Tamannaah Bhatia, and casting director Mukesh Chhabra filled the room.
At its core, Homebound tells the gripping story of two childhood friends from a small North Indian village. They chase a police job to finally gain the respect they’ve been denied, but as their dream gets closer, growing desperation starts to strain their lifelong bond.
Neeraj Ghaywan calls it a personal tale of friendship, dignity, and survival. "It’s about people we often overlook and the quiet strength they hold in a world that doesn’t stop for them," he shared. "I hope the film encourages us to look closer with empathy and notice what we’ve been trained to ignore."
Adding star power behind the scenes, legendary director Martin Scorsese serves as executive producer. Fans can’t wait for Homebound to bring this powerful story to big screens soon.
