Mumbai, Nov. 16 – Earlier this week, Bollywood star Farhan Akhtar’s mother, screenwriter Honey Irani, shared a proud moment about her son that made headlines on the music show “Indian Idol.” The clip, posted by the show’s official channel, shows the family in a light‑hearted conversation that highlighted a milestone in Farhan’s career.
In the segment, Honey Irani told Farhan, “I’m sorry because we have never worked together. I mean, I’ve never worked for you, you’ve never worked for me. So I hope we’ll change that in the future. And also sorry for getting a lot of beating from me. I think I couldn’t have asked for a better son. I’m really, really, really, really proud of him.” When asked when she first felt that pride, She laughed and said, “When he came to me and said that Aamir had said yes to my script. I didn’t even know that he was writing. That was a proud moment for me.” The “yes” came from Aamir Khan, who greenlit the script that would launch Farhan as a director.
Farhan Akhtar’s debut film, Dil Chahta Hai, released in 2001, helped him find his voice. The film followed three college friends living in Mumbai and captured the ups and downs of friendship and career in a fresh, urban style. Dil Chahta Hai was a turning point for the whole Indian film industry, featuring hit music and a storyline that still feels relevant to today’s audiences.
Honey Irani’s comments were a reminder that behind every famous Bollywood star is a family that has supported them through the ups and downs. Acknowledging the support from her son and the success of Dil Chahta Hai in front of a TV audience, Honey Irani expressed, “I couldn’t have asked for a better son.” The clip has since become popular across social‑media platforms, showcasing the real‑life moments that often get missed.
