Mumbai, November 24 (LatestNewsX) – The news of superstar Dharmendra’s death has struck a deep chord throughout the country.
A wave of tributes followed on social media as numerous Bollywood stars, who admired his acting prowess and admired him as a gentleman, shared heartfelt condolences and memories.
Actor Ibrahim Ali Khan, who served as the assistant director on the 2024 film Rocky Aur Rani, posted a moving note on his feed. In it, he recalled how Dharmendra became a pivotal figure in his family’s entry into cinema, mentioning his mother, actress Amrita Singh, who first appeared on the silver screen thanks to the legendary actor.
He wrote, “Some people aren’t just stars on screen; they change the course of lives.” Elaborating on how the late superstar introduced his mother to acting, Ibrahim added, “Dharam Ji discovered my mother in Delhi when she was only 16 and trusted her with her first film Betaab. If it wasn’t for him, she may never have left Delhi… and we might not even exist.”
Khan expressed gratitude for the life‑altering role Dharmendra played, saying, “It’s overwhelming to think that our entire journey, our family, our place in this industry, all of it began because of him. A man whose kindness shaped destinies.” He continued, “Dharam Ji, you were devilishly handsome, effortlessly charming and truly timeless. Thank you for the wisdom you shared with me; I will hold onto your words for the rest of my life. My heart goes out to the entire Deol family. May they find strength through this difficult time.”
In a final farewell, Ibrahim posted, “Rest in peace, sir. You will live on forever, adding a dove, a red heart and a joining hands emoticon.” For those unfamiliar, Amrita Singh made her debut opposite Dharmendra’s elder son, Sunny Deol, in the 1983 hit Betaab—the same movie that launched both their careers. The film, produced by Vijayta Films, the Deol family’s banner, went on to become a blockbuster.
Dharmendra passed away on November 24 and was cremated later that afternoon at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Vile Parle, Mumbai.
The turnout at his funeral drew many prominent figures from Bollywood, who paid their respects to the iconic “He‑Man of Bollywood.”
