Ilaiyaraaja, the celebrated Indian music director, expressed excitement about his next creative project after a thrilling night in Dubai. The composer thanked fans on X (formerly Twitter) for their support, saying, “Thankful for the love, warmth, and energy from everyone who joined me for the symphony Valiant performance in Dubai Opera. Your appreciation and emotions made the night truly special…Thank you, Dubai.”
In a follow‑up clip, he shared that he will begin writing his next symphony in the wake of his mother’s death anniversary. “On this Deepavali, I want to let you all know that I plan to start a new symphony after observing my mother’s death anniversary. I will also create a piece called Symphonic Dancers,” he posted, adding wishes for a happy holiday.
The composer first broke new ground on March 8, when he presented India’s first Western‑classical symphony—“Valiant”—at London’s Eventim Apollo theatre. The Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra performed alongside him, making the event historic for Indian music. After returning home, Ilaiyaraaja announced that “Valiant” would tour 13 countries worldwide, inviting listeners everywhere to experience his blend of Indian melodies and classical orchestration.
“Music is a universal language,” he said. “I want my audience, who loves me so much, to listen to this masterpiece.” He praised conductor Mikel Toms, who ensured the performance’s precision, noting the conductor’s contribution was key to the show’s success.
Now, as Ilaiyaraaja moves beyond Dubai, fans can expect fresh symphonic works that merge Indian heritage with global orchestral traditions. His next projects—promised to launch after his mother’s anniversary and including the new “Symphonic Dancers”—promise to keep the composer’s pioneering spirit alive on the world stage.
