Indian Women’s Cricket Team Coach Amol Muzumdar tell Amitabh Bachchan how Sachin Tendulkar, Vinod Kambli inspired him

On December 5 in Mumbai, a special episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati paid tribute to India’s biggest cricket triumph by bringing the head coach of the Women’s national side, Amol Muzumdar, to the set. With the charismatic host and film legend Amitabh Bachchan, Amol took a journey through his formative years, the people who guided him, and the principles that earned him respect across the country’s cricketing circles.
He reminded Bachchan that he hung up his boots in 2014 after twenty seasons in the Ranji Trophy – seventeen for Mumbai, then four years with Assam and Andhra – and that he had also led Mumbai as captain. “My father was a good cricketer in Mumbai. And it is because of him that I am sitting here today. The cricketing values, the education, and the discipline he gave me are something I can never forget,” he confessed. He went on to praise Achrekar Sir, declaring, “Achrekar Sir – na bhooton, na bhavishyati – there will never be anyone like him.”
Amol recounted his early influences, long domestic stints, and memorable school‑day matches alongside legends Sachin Tendulkar and Vinod Kambli. He thanked both men for instilling a rigid work ethic and a shared cricket culture that shaped an entire generation of Mumbai players. The candid dialogue highlighted the blend of mentorship, legacy, and family support that forged one of India’s most influential cricket minds.
When asked about the role of KBC itself, the host noted that beyond education, the show has become a prime venue for film and television promotions, fueled by its massive audience base. Previously, the Family Man cast – Jaideep Ahlawat, Manoj Bajpayee, and Sharib Hashmi – appeared on the show to publicise the series, enjoying themselves alongside Amitabh Bachchan. Actors Kartik Aryan and Ananya Panday also joined the program to support the upcoming movie Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri. – LatestNewsX
