Mumbai, Dec. 27 – Actor Ishaan Khatter, whose film “Homebound” has been officially shortlisted for the upcoming Academy Awards, looked back on 2025 and described the year as “extraordinary.”
On Instagram he shared a string of photos from a holiday in Goa, calling it a “perfect year ender.”
“Ishaan wrote the caption, “This year has been so extraordinary… counting my blessings. Perfect year ender and much needed getaway— aura cleansed and farmed. Feeling re‑energised and calm stepping into 2026.”
2025 saw Ishaan debut on the small screen in the series The Royals directed by Priyanka Ghose and Nupur Asthana. The show boasts an ensemble cast that includes Bhumi Pednekar, Zeenat Aman, Sakshi Tanwar, Nora Fatehi, Vihaan Samat, Dino Morea, and Milind Soman. Its plot follows a financially struggling royal family trying to turn their ancestral palace into a luxury resort after the heir partners with a hospitality entrepreneur. The series was renewed for a second season on May 28, 2025.
He then appeared in Neeraj Ghaywan’s “Homebound.” The film is based on a 2020 New York Times article by Basharat Peer and stars Vishal Jethwa and Janhvi Kapoor. “Homebound” premiered in the Un Certain Regard section of the 2025 Cannes Film Festival on May 21, where it reportedly earned a nine‑minute standing ovation. The movie was selected as India’s entry for Best International Feature Film at the 98th Academy Awards and made the December shortlist.
“Homebound” follows two childhood friends from a small North Indian village who aspire to become police officers in hopes of gaining the respect they’ve always lacked. As their dreams get closer to reality, the pressures and hardships strain their friendship.
