Iulia Vantur, the actress‑singer from Romania, made headlines when she sang Bollywood’s hit “Teri Meri Prem Kahani” at the Vatican’s Paul VI Hall. The performance was historic – it was the first time any Bollywood song had been performed inside the sacred halls of the Vatican, and it took place with Pope Leo IV in attendance.
Pope Leo IV welcomed the singer with warmth, and Vantur said the meeting was “beyond words.” She added that the pope’s kindness filled her with gratitude and reminded her of faith’s core: compassion, humility and human connection.
The song is from the Salman Khan film Bodyguard, which was a blockbuster in India. Vantur described her performance at the Vatican as “a prayer through music.” She said the experience felt magical, showing that music can cross borders, languages and faiths.
Later the same day, Vantur recorded a track with Grammy‑winning producer Jason “Poo Bear” Boyd. Poo Bear, who has written “Despacito,” and several top‑charts songs for Justin Bieber, Mariah Carey and Usher, praised her talent. Vantur said singing with him was unforgettable.
She also sang the Romanian version of “Teri Meri” and unveiled an unreleased single, “Corinde Corinde.” The following night, she joined Poo Bear and international musicians Stephen Devassy and Vijay Yesudas for a stirring rendition of “We Are the New World (Keep Doing Good).” The anthem highlighted unity, hope and kindness.
The Vatican event coincided with the 60th anniversary celebration of Nostra Aetate and the Second Vatican Council. These milestones marked a historic declaration that promotes dialogue, understanding and unity among the world’s religions.
Outside the Vatican, Vantur is also acting in the film Echoes of Us. The short drama has earned praise at festivals such as the 14th Bangalore Shorts Film Festival, Global Indie Filmmaker Awards, Independent Shorts Awards and Love & Hope International Film Festival, all in 2025. The film’s trailer showcases its emotional depth and cultural connection.
Produced by Pooja Batra and Alliance Media Pty Ltd., Echoes of Us features Bollywood actor Deepak Tijori. The film blends emotions and promises a cross‑cultural experience that showcases Vantur’s growing presence on the international stage.
