Jelly Roll, the 40‑year‑old singer known for hits like “Save Me,” surprised fans on Thursday by sharing a brand‑new look. He posted a short clip on Instagram in which he shows off his face after shaving off a beard he had worn for more than a decade.

In the video, the artist jokes that he used to resemble a “ninja turtle” and explains that the beard helped cover the changes his weight loss brought to his appearance. “I was so obese that the beard was just easier to hide what was happening inside,” he says. Fans poured in support, typing messages like “Somebody call Gillette ‘cause Jelly lookin’ SHARP!” and “You are an amazing human, you’ve come a long way.”

The transformation was timed to the announcement of the 2026 Grammy Award nominations. Jelly Roll received three nods, including Best Contemporary Country Album and Best Country Duo/Group Performance. He said the nominations feel like “the craziest thing that’s ever happened in my life” and expressed deep gratitude for the chance to return to the Grammys after his first nomination three years earlier.

Jelly Roll’s weight‑loss journey began in December 2022, starting at 540 pounds. By April, he told the Pat McAfee show that he had dropped 183 pounds, now weighing 357. He’s aiming to lose another 100 pounds so he and his wife, Bunnie XO, can go skydiving together. On the 2025 Academy of Country Music Awards, he warned that dinner is where the real challenge lies for anyone fighting obesity, saying, “You have to start at the dinner table to fight that addiction.”

In September, he celebrated reaching another milestone, teasing Instagram followers that he can now fit into designer clothes and jokingly asking them to “pray for my bank account.” His story of shedding a thick beard and shedding pounds has resonated with many, making him an inspirational figure for fans looking to start or continue their own health journeys.
