Brett James was born on June 5, 1968, in Columbia, Missouri. He started out studying medicine in college but ditched it to chase his dream in music. In 1995, he dropped his debut album with Arista Nashville, and from there, he became one of Nashville’s most respected songwriters.
His songwriting magic touched huge stars. He penned massive hits like “Jesus, Take the Wheel” and “Cowboy Casanova” for Carrie Underwood, “When the Sun Goes Down” and “Out Last Night” for Kenny Chesney, “I Hold On” for Dierks Bentley, “The Truth” for Jason Aldean, and “Summer Nights” for Rascal Flatts.
