The trailer for Train Dreams finally drops this week, giving fans a taste of Joel Edgerton and Felicity Jones in a story that follows a logger from the Pacific Northwest who tries to juggle family life while chasing the new railroad boom.
Clint Bentley, who writes and directs the film, says the movie captures the gritty charm of early railroads and the rocky lives of those who built them.
Train Dreams will open in U.S. theaters on Friday, November 7, and is set to stream on Netflix two weeks later, on November 21. The picture made a splash earlier this year, first showing at the Sundance Film Festival and later at Toronto International Film Festival last month.
In the trailer, Edgerton’s character, Robert Grainier, talks about the endless miles he’s walked to get where he is, while Jones’s character suggests that her home isn’t ready for him yet.
Netflix shared the full trailer on its Instagram feed on Wednesday. See it here: https://www.instagram.com/p/DPjafNPkeg7/.
Bentley and co‑screenwriter Greg Kwedar adapted the script from Denis Johnson’s 2011 novella. The two have teamed up before on the Oscar‑nominated screenplay for Sing Sing. The film’s producers include Marissa McMahon, Teddy Schwarzman, Will Janowitz, Ashley Schlaifer, and Michael Heimler, with Exec Producers Joel Edgerton, Greg Kwedar, John Friedberg, and Scott Hinckley.
Fans of period dramas and railroad history won’t want to miss Train Dreams.
