On his 73rd birthday, Bollywood actor Juhi Chawla shared heartfelt memories of late superstar Rishi Kapoor. She took a moment to remember the cheerful, spontaneous actor who was known for his laughter, his playful scoldings, and funny scrabble battles that they shared.

Juhi posted a photo from Rishi Kapoor’s final posthumous film appearance in the 2022 movie “Sharmaji Namkeen.” In her Instagram story, she wrote, “Chintuji… You were the most spontaneous, effortless actor ever! I miss all the times we laughed so much, especially when you scolded us or beat me at scrabble. Working with you was such fun. Miss you, Chintuji. Big hug wherever you are!”

“Sharmaji Namkeen” is a comedy-drama directed by debutant Hitesh Bhatia. It made history as the first Hindi film where two actors played the same character at different times — Rishi Kapoor and Paresh Rawal. Juhi Chawla, Satish Kaushik, Sheeba Chaddha, Isha Talwar, Suhail Nayyar, and Taaruk Raina also star in this heartfelt story.

Production of the film started in January 2020 but came to a halt after Rishi Kapoor’s sad passing in April 2020. To complete his scenes, actor Paresh Rawal stepped in to ensure the film’s finish.

The story of “Sharmaji Namkeen” follows Brij Gopal, who, after retiring, decides to pursue his passion for cooking. But his new journey creates surprises and challenges from his family.

Rishi Kapoor had been battling leukemia since 2018, and he traveled to New York City for treatment. After a year of successful therapy, he returned to India. Sadly, he was hospitalized just before his passing and died on April 30, 2020, due to a recurrence of leukemia.

Rishi Kapoor married actress Neetu Singh in 1980. In 2017, he published his autobiography “Khullam Khulla: Rishi Kapoor Uncensored,” sharing his journey and experiences in Hollywood and Bollywood.

Remembering Rishi Kapoor on his birthday is a reminder of his charming talent and joyful personality that continues to inspire fans and fellow actors alike.
