Mumbai, Oct 19 – Actor Kanwar Dhillon said on an interview that television crews should stick to an 8‑ to 10‑hour shift. He warned that running around all day is not only tiring for actors, but it can hurt the crew as well. “I haven’t heard of any official change, but I’d love to see standard shifts of 8–10 hours instead of 12 or more,” Dhillon told the reporter. He added that overnight shoots happen, but they should be the exception, not the rule.
The discussion came after Deepika Padukone, who just had a baby, asked fans and the press for an 8‑hour workday. Her comment sparked a broader conversation about how long TV schedules can be. Several industry figures have joined in, speaking about the toll that marathon filming takes on their health, sleep, and performance.
The late‑night show “Khakee: The Bengal Chapter” also expressed sympathy. “We often work fifteen hours a day, which affects health, sleep, and performance,” added a show representative. “If actors stay exhausted, they can’t look fresh or put emotion into their scenes. That’s why I always ask for at least a half‑day or a full holiday each week. Personal time, family and rest are essential—otherwise the job turns unhealthy.”
The voices of Dhillon, Padukone, and other TV stars underline a growing push for shorter workdays in the Mumbai television industry. Streamlining schedules could boost talent well‑being and help keep the creative energy alive on set.
