Mumbai, October 27 – Young Bollywood star Kashika Kapoor opened up about the spark that set her dream of acting alight. In a candid chat with , she said that Katrina Kaif’s infectious “Sheila Ki Jawani” routine was the turning point that convinced her to step onto the silver screen.
Kapoor says she first fell in love with performance in school. “When I was in fifth grade, I opened a show at school and everyone cheered for me,” she recalled. “That applause showed me I had something to offer, and that was where my love for acting began.”
The film‑lover herself credits Kaif’s iconic music‑video performance as the real catalyst. “I watched “Sheila Ki Jawani” and thought, ‘I want to be in something like that’.” Yet, her father was initially against the idea, worrying about careers outside show business. “He called it just a phase,” he once said. “But with my mother’s steady support, our family eventually backed my dream. I’m grateful for that.”
Kapoor’s first big break came in an unexpected way. While shooting at home for a local floral advertisement, the director – respected for not selecting talent casually – spotted her. “He told me I was his ‘Geeta’ for a story about the Miss Beti Bachao Beti Padhao poster,” she laughed. “I even auditioned in Telugu for it!” The role formed the foundation of her Bollywood debut.
In 2021, Kapoor first appeared on the big screen in the socially conscious drama “Aayushmati Geeta Matric Pass.” She soon crossed over to Telugu cinema with the hit film “LYF: Love Your Father.” Alongside feature films, she has gained popularity through a string of music videos that showcase her dancing and acting range.
Kapoor’s journey underscores the power of inspiration, family support, and seizing unexpected opportunities. From a school stage in Mumbai to a national spotlight, she continues to shine as a fresh face in Bollywood and Telugu cinema.
