Kevin Feder — Britney Spears’ former husband and a former backup dancer who gained fame on Saturday Night Fever – says he caught his ex‑wife talking to ex‑boyfriend Justin Timberlake the night before they tied the knot in 2004.
The story comes from an interview Feder gave to Entertainment Tonight. He and Britney were staying at the Fairmont Miramar hotel in Santa Monica, California, on the evening before their wedding. While walking into the room, he heard Britney on an intimate phone call with Timberlake. “I was like, ‘What’s wrong?’ I thought she was talking to her mom or maybe she was having doubts,” Feder said.
When he interrupted, he told Britney that they didn’t have to get married, that the story was over. He said he’d genuinely been in love at the time, but he felt confused that she was still talking to Timberlake. “She told me she just wanted to make sure everything was done,” he recalled.
Spears and Timberlake were a pop‑culture power couple for three years. They met on The Mickey Mouse Club as kids and dated from 1999 to 2002. Their romance ended abruptly, and Britney has said in her 2023 memoir The Woman in Me that she had an abortion after becoming pregnant with Timberlake’s baby and that she cheated with choreographer Wade Robson.
Feder now promotes his new memoir, You Thought You Knew, released on Oct. 21. It includes his account of the phone call and other details of their relationship. The book has sparked debate because the couple’s two sons – Sean Preston and Jayden James – are a few decades away from the period in question.
Spears’ representatives say Feder is profiting from her story after their child‑support payments ended. “All she cares about are her kids and their well‑being during this sensationalism,” a spokesperson wrote.
The two celebrities have not spoken in years after their 2007 divorce, and fame‑driven headlines continue as new stories from both memoirs hit the news cycle.
