Mumbai: The sudden loss of legendary Bollywood star Dharmendra has sent shockwaves through the film world and plunged the nation into deep sorrow. Fans across the country are mourning the death of a hero whose career spanned decades.
Actress Kiara Advani expressed her grief on social media, posting a photo of Dharmendra and adding a dove emoji, a white heart, and a pair of folded hands to convey her sadness.
Shortly after his passing, a filmmaker honored him on his own social media feed, sharing a monochrome portrait of the veteran actor and writing, “It is an end of an ERA… a massive megastar… the embodiment of a HERO in mainstream cinema…” He praised Dharmendra’s magnetic presence, legacy, and humanity, noting that his “blessing, his hug and his incredible warmth will be missed more than words can describe ….” (sic).
He went on to say, “Today there is a gaping hole in our industry … a space that can never be filled by anyone … there will always be the one and only DHARAMJI… We love you, kind sir…. We will miss you so much…. The heavens are blessed today…. It will always be my blessing to have worked with you…. And my heart says with respect, reverence and love…. Abhi Na jao chodke…. Ke dil abhi bhara nahi…… OM SHANTI.”
Dharmendra died on November 24 at the age of 89. The news was confirmed in the afternoon, when an ambulance—alongside heavy security—was seen arriving at his Mumbai home. His remains were later taken to the Pawan Hans Crematorium in Vile Parle.
The cremation was attended by many high‑profile industry figures, including Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, and Abhishek Bachchan, who all traveled to pay their respects to the icon. Dharmendra’s wife, Hema Malini, and daughter Esha Deol also rushed to the site, closing the ceremony with a heartfelt farewell.
