In Chennai on Nov. 18, star Rana Daggubatti responded to actress Bhagyashrii Borse’s recent thank‑you post. The two met on the set of the period drama Kaantha, directed by Selvamani Selvaraj.
Bhagyashrii’s Instagram message praised Rana as a true friend, “a gem of a person,” and thanked him for backing her from day one. “You’re my mentor,” she wrote, noting that his guidance was critical to her first steps in acting.
Rana, speaking to , said the actress’s sincerity was striking. “She moved away from Bombay and stayed here for six months to learn Tamil for the film,” he said. “In today’s fast‑paced industry, that kind of dedication is rare.”
The actor added that the cast, which includes Dulquer Salmaan and Samuthirakani, brought a new energy to the film. “We were nervous at first,” he said. “But when Bhagyashrii started rehearsing, we knew we had found our new lead.”
Kaantha is a 1950s Madras thriller co‑produced by Spirit Media and Wayfarer Films. Dani Sanchez Lopaz handled cinematography, Jhanu Chanthar composed the music, and art director Tha Ramalingam oversaw the visual design. The movie’s editing was done by Llewellyn Anthony Gonsalves.
