Bihar CM Nitish Kumar unveils development projects worth Rs 1,585cr in Gopalganj
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar kicked off a busy day of development launches on Sunday, unveiling and laying the groundwork for 185 projects worth over Rs 1,585 crore in Gopalganj district. The event took place at the Sabeya Airfield complex, where he started 124 new initiatives valued at Rs 1,295 crore and opened 61 others totaling Rs 290 crore.
During the gathering, Kumar chatted with Jivika Didis—women leading rural self-help groups—along with pensioners and other locals. He stressed how his government prioritizes rural development and welfare programs to uplift communities across Bihar.
Later that day, Kumar headed to Vaishali district for another big push. At Degree College in Goraul, he inaugurated and laid foundations for 331 schemes worth Rs 745 crore. Many of these projects stem from his recent Pragati Yatra tour, focusing on faster growth, better roads and facilities, and improved living standards for residents.
Kumar also broke ground for a new degree college in Goraul and checked out a 3D model of the upcoming campus. He took time to connect with pensioners, Jivika Didis, Anganwadi workers, and more beneficiaries, underscoring Bihar’s commitment to grassroots support and direct engagement.
This flurry of activity is part of Kumar’s fast-paced tour, hitting two districts each day to roll out development projects ahead of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. The Election Commission could announce polling dates any time now, triggering the Model Code of Conduct and pausing such launches.
On Saturday, Kumar ramped things up even more, launching initiatives worth over Rs 8,900 crore in Katihar and Madhubani districts. In Katihar’s Sameli block, at Gandhi Senior Secondary High School in Narhiya Panchayat, he unveiled 242 projects valued at Rs 583 crore. Then in Madhubani, he greenlit 25 major schemes totaling Rs 8,329 crore.
These efforts highlight Bihar’s ongoing drive for infrastructure upgrades and rural empowerment, aiming to boost jobs, education, and daily life as elections loom.
