Mumbai, Nov. 2 – Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan turns 60 today, and the nation is celebrating with big‑picture fanfare. The 60th birthday milestone came after the superstar’s brief cameo in the film *The Ba**ds of Bollywood, and he’s already in full‑blown birthday mode.
West Bengal’s chief minister, Mamata Banerjee, marked the occasion by posting a birthday wish on X (formerly Twitter). “A Very Happy Birthday to my brother Shah Rukh Khan! May you continue to enrich Indian cinema with your remarkable talent and charisma. @iamsrk,” she wrote.
Mamata had already shown her support for Khan earlier in the year. In July, when reports surfaced that Shah Rukh had suffered a muscle injury on the set of his upcoming film King, she expressed her concern. “Reports of my brother Shah Rukh Khan sustaining muscular injuries during shooting make me worried. Wish him speedy recovery. @iamsrk,” she said. The actor was flown to the U.S. for treatment and took a month‑long break from filming.
The close bond between the actor and the West Bengal government is partly built on sports ties. Khan owns the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) cricket franchise, whose home ground is the state capital. KKR, led by former India captain Gautam Gambhir, has already captured three IPL titles (2012, 2014, and 2024 under Shreyas Iyer). Only the Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians have matched or surpassed that tally.
Shah Rukh is the second of the famed Khans to hit the 60‑year mark. Aamir Khan celebrated his 60th in March, while Salman Khan will celebrate next month as the year wraps up.
Fans are also looking forward to Khan’s next release. His latest film, Dunki, is already on screens, and he will soon return in King, co‑starring his daughter Suhana Khan. The big‑screen celebration is expected to keep Bollywood buzzing for weeks.
