Manish Malhotra says ‘your visionary stance is a cherished journey’ as KJo bags National Award
Bollywood powerhouse Karan Johar just snagged his fourth National Award, and the celebrations are pouring in from all corners of the industry.
On Tuesday, President Droupadi Murmu presented the honor at the 71st National Film Awards in New Delhi. Johar’s hit romantic comedy “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani,” starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, won for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. The movie charmed audiences with its fun take on love, family, and modern relationships, blending humor and heart.
Fellow Bollywood icon and designer Manish Malhotra was quick to congratulate Johar on Instagram. “Dearest and Bestest @karanjohar many Congratulations on your 4th National Award,” Malhotra wrote. “Your visionary stance to cinema has been a cherished journey and here’s to many more as a true producer and director to come your way.” He also thanked Johar for rocking a classic Manish Malhotra outfit at the event. “Thank You for every Special and Most Important days and rewards to making me a part of them by wearing Classic @manishmalhotraworld,” Malhotra added.
Johar, known for directing classics like “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai,” shared his raw emotions online too. “So humbled and honoured to win the most POPULAR FILM PROVIDING WHOLESOME ENTERTAINMENT at the NATIONAL AWARDS,” he posted, tagging the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. He gave a shoutout to producer Apoorva Lakhia and the Dharma Productions team, calling them his “soul and spine.”
The win felt extra special for Johar, coming in the same year as awards for Rani Mukerji in “Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway” and Shah Rukh Khan in “Jawan.” “I am extremely emotional to win the National Award in the same year as Rani Mukerji and Shah Rukh Khan,” he said. Wrapping up with gratitude to fans, Johar added, “Thank you all for all the love to our film #rockyaurranikipremkahani and @ranveersingh and @aliaabhatt. I just have to say … Karan Johar this side and I am fragile today… thanks to the love and recognition.”
This latest accolade cements Johar’s spot as a Bollywood visionary, with “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani” proving once again why his films resonate so widely.
