Union Health Minister plants saplings in Rohtak, takes pledge for environment protection

In Rohtak city, Union Health Minister JP Nadda kicked off the special ‘Namo Van’ initiative on Wednesday, marking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday. He planted saplings alongside Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and BJP state president Mohan Lal Badauli, showing strong backing for the nationwide tree plantation drive.
The leaders, including Nadda and Saini, promised to boost environmental protection by planting about 10,000 saplings through these ‘Namo Vans’. Local residents of Rohtak jumped in with enthusiasm, joining hands with women, youth, children, and senior citizens to make the event a community hit.
Nadda highlighted how the Modi government pushes for a green and developed India, or ‘Viksit Bharat’. He called it everyone’s duty to turn this dream into reality. Turning to women, he praised their skills in handling home duties and urged them to step up as environment guardians by planting even more trees.
The event doubled up as a launchpad for the ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar’ campaign, focusing on better healthcare and nutrition for women, teenage girls, and kids. Key rollouts included health check-up camps for women, the fourth round of the ‘Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan’ for safe motherhood, and a special immunisation drive.
Nadda also kicked off the ‘8th Poshan Maah’ – a month-long push to raise awareness on nutrition for pregnant women, new mothers, adolescent girls, and children under six. In a touching moment, he fed a child a nutritious meal to symbolise the campaign’s goals.
Seniors over 70 got Vay Vandana cards under the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana for easier healthcare access. Other beneficiaries received Ayushman Cards too. The day celebrated cancer survivors as ‘Cancer Champions’ for their inspiring fights against the disease.
Wrapping up, Nadda and Saini led a pledge for organ donation, motivating the crowd to join this life-saving cause and build a healthier, greener nation.
