Mohanlal, Mammootty & other mourn the loss of lives at the Karur stampede

A tragic stampede at a political rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu, has shocked India. The incident happened during an event organized by actor-turned-politician Thalapathy Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party. Reports say more than 35 people, including children, died in the chaos, with several others injured and fighting for recovery.

Fans and supporters rushed the rally site, leading to the deadly crush. The news spread quickly, leaving the nation in mourning over this heartbreaking Karur stampede at the TVK rally.

Malayalam superstar Mammootty shared his grief on X, formerly Twitter. “Deeply saddened by the tragic incident in Karur,” he wrote. “My heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their loved ones. Wishing strength and a speedy recovery to those injured.”

Fellow actor Mohanlal echoed the sorrow, posting: “Heartfelt prayers for the families who lost loved ones in the tragic Karur stampede. Wishing strength and a speedy recovery to the injured.”

Actor Manoj Manju poured out his emotions online too. “My heart is shattered. This is a pain beyond words,” he said. “It’s deeply disturbing and unfortunate that so many innocent lives, including those of children, were lost. My deepest condolences to the families. Praying for a speedy recovery to those who are injured.”

Thalapathy Vijay, the rally’s host and TVK chief, broke his silence late that night on X. “My heart is shattered; I am writhing in unbearable, indescribable pain and sorrow that words cannot express,” Vijay wrote. “Deepest condolences and sympathies to the families of my dear brothers and sisters who lost their lives in Karur.” He also prayed for the quick recovery of hospital patients.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined the tributes with his own post on X. “The unfortunate incident during a political rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu, is deeply saddening,” he said. “My thoughts are with the families who have lost their loved ones. Wishing strength to them in this difficult time. Praying for a swift recovery to all those injured.”

As investigations continue into the Tamil Nadu rally tragedy, leaders and stars unite in support for the victims’ families. The focus now turns to preventing such devastating events at future political gatherings.
