Chennai, Nov 30 (LatestNewsX) – Rumors circulating in the film community suggest that Malayalam icon Mohanlal will be joining the sets of Superstar Rajinikanth’s highly anticipated sequel, “Jailer 2,” sometime in December. Although the production house has not issued an official schedule, insiders claim he is expected to shoot for a brief stretch starting on December 2 for the much‑anticipated film, which is being helmed by acclaimed director Nelson.
After this stint, the Malayalam star plans to work on his other projects before returning to the “Jailer 2” set on December 21, where he will be on location until December 24. The buzz around the film has only intensified, particularly now that Vijay Sethupathi has reportedly come on board for the Goa shoot; his scenes are said to be in the can. Still, his participation has yet to be formally confirmed.
Earlier this year, in May, Rajinikanth hinted that the production might stretch through December. Speaking to reporters as he left Chennai airport, he said, “Shooting of Jailer 2 is progressing well. It will be December by the time the film ends.” The sequel has already generated massive excitement, especially after the first part’s blockbuster run that pulled in roughly Rs 650 crore.
Production of “Jailer 2” began in Chennai, where Sun Pictures opened filming on March 10. An intriguing teaser from the studio boosted interest, blending humor with suspense. Actress Ramya Krishnan later posted about her inaugural day on set in Attapadi, Kerala, remarking, “26 years of Padayappa and the first day shoot of Jailer 2.” She will portray Vijaya Pandian (Viji), the wife of Rajinikanth’s character Muthuvel Pandian, while Mirnaa, playing Swetha Pandian, Rajinikanth’s daughter‑in‑law, is expected to deliver a key performance.
