Munawar Faruqui Connects Deeply with His ‘First Copy’ Character’s Hustle Story
Mumbai-based comedian and actor Munawar Faruqui is busy dubbing for the exciting second season of the popular web series First Copy. He shared that his character’s journey feels super personal because it mirrors his own rise from nothing to stardom.
"In many ways, I’ve lived the same world as my character," Munawar told . "I get what it’s like to start from scratch, hustle in tough spots where no one bets on you, and create your own rules to succeed."
Munawar can’t hide his excitement about jumping back into the First Copy franchise. "This project has always been special to me," he said. "Dubbing for something fans are buzzing about is pure fun. I totally relate to my character’s ambition— that burning drive to beat the odds and seize chances when everyone says it’s impossible."
The first season of First Copy hooked viewers with its raw tale of an ordinary guy turning into the ultimate "piracy king." It scored big for its gritty, real-life vibes and became a massive hit. Now, with season 2 in the works, fans are already hyped for more drama.
Munawar teased that the sequel ramps things up. "The story world gets bigger, but the conflicts hit harder and feel way more personal. Working on the second part of a fan-favorite series brings a whole new thrill."
On the TV front, Munawar is keeping audiences entertained as co-host on the fun reality show Pati, Patni aur Panga, airing on Colors TV. He teams up with Bollywood icon Sonali Bendre to host celebrity couples battling it out. The star-studded lineup features Hina Khan and Rocky Jaiswal, Rubina Dilaik and Abhinav Shukla, Avika Gor and Milind Chandwani, Debina Bonnerjee and Gurmeet Choudhary, Sudesh Lehri and Mamta Lehri, Geeta Phogat and Pawan Kumar, plus Swara Bhasker and Fahad Ahmed.
Beyond this, Munawar has his hands full with the film Angadia and a couple of secret projects brewing. Looks like 2023 is shaping up to be another blockbuster year for the stand-up sensation!
