Neeru Bajwa is buzzing about her new Punjabi film Madhaniyan, set to hit theatres on October 31. The star joked that she’s powered through the last week of preparation on “coffee, chaos and cute outfits,” a line she posted on Instagram along with a short transformation reel. The clip loops to the lively track “Gustakhiyan” by The Landers, Davi Singh and Sync, adding a playful vibe that matches the movie’s energetic tone.
In her Instagram caption, Neeru teased, “Running on coffee, chaos, and cute outfits – Madhaniyan in theatres Oct 31… 5 days to go #tooexcited.” Fans already feel the excitement building.
Madhaniyan is directed by Neeru’s brother, Nav Bajwa, and stars Raj Dhaliwal and Poonam Dhillon. The story centers on a unique marriage that brings together two families, highlighting how Punjabi culture views marriage as a union of households rather than just two people. Set against a vibrant Punjabi backdrop, the film promises to explore family values, traditions, and the emotional journey of newlyweds.
The soundtrack includes the playful folk hit “Nai Jana,” performed by Mannat Noor with music by Money Aujla. Neeru said the song reminds her of wedding celebrations from her childhood. “It took me back to so many memories,” she shared. “Performing it in Madhaniyan felt authentic and fun, and I can’t wait for audiences to feel the same joy.”
A Canadian-born actress, Neeru started her career in 2005 with the TV series Hari Mirchi Lal Mirchi. She went on to appear in Astitva…Ek Prem Kahani, Jeet, and Guns and Roses. Her film debut came in 2013 with Saadi Love Story, produced by Jimmy Sheirgill and starring Diljit Dosanjh. Neeru teamed with Diljit again for the blockbuster Jatt and Juliet 2, which set new records for Punjabi cinema.
In 2017, Neeru directed her first film, Sargi, casting her sister Rubina Bajwa as the lead. She later produced and starred in Beautiful Billo (2019) and helped release the third Jatt and Juliet installment in June. With her debut film still a staple of Punjab’s movie scene, Neeru’s upcoming project looks to blend familiar cultural themes with fresh storytelling.
Fans can expect Madhaniyan to arrive in theatres on October 31, ready to celebrate love, family, and the joyous chaos that comes with Punjabi weddings.
