On Teachers’ Day, filmmaker Subhash Ghai shared a heartfelt tribute to his spiritual mentor, Osho. He called Osho his “constant friend and teacher” and credited him with inspiring his thoughts for over 40 years.
Subhash took to Instagram to post a picture of Osho, a controversial spiritual leader known for rejecting traditional religious structures. Ghai wrote that Osho’s teachings have been a daily source of inspiration, helping him explore life, energy, and truth beyond conventional boundaries.
He captioned his post, “My constant friend and teacher, Osho, who has entertained and inspired me with his philosophy of life—people, energies, and the truth behind truths—for over four decades. ‘Listen to me but do not follow me. Just witness yourself,’ he says. Happy Teachers’ Day, Osho. I believe he’ll help build a new way of thinking in India with clarity.”
Teachers’ Day is celebrated across India as a day to honor and appreciate educators and mentors who inspire us in life.
Earlier this year, on August 28, Subhash Ghai also shared a personal post celebrating his wife, Mukta Rehana Ghai, whom he married in 1970. He described her as a “blessed wife” and a guiding force behind his success as an actor, director, producer, and educationist.
He shared a lovely photo of Mukta praying during Ganesh Chaturthi and wrote about their journey together. The couple met in 1965 at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune, and they married in Mumbai when Ghai was starting his film career. Over the years, Mukta has supported him through his rise in the film industry, helping him establish his production company, Mukta Arts Ltd., and his renowned film school, Whistling Woods.
Ghai expressed his gratitude for her unwavering support and positivity, especially during religious rituals like Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. He called her a “Shiv bhakt” who still blows the shankh (conch) during prayers, calling himself a “blessed husband.”
As one of Bollywood’s most successful filmmakers of the 1980s and 1990s, Subhash Ghai’s journey showcases a blend of artistic achievement and personal gratitude. His stories remind us how mentors, family, and spiritual guides play a vital role in shaping our lives and careers.
