Mumbai, Nov 23 (LatestNewsX) – The wedding between music composer Palash Muchhal and cricketer Smriti Mandhana has been put on hold indefinitely after her father, Shrinivas, was said to have suffered a heart attack, according to sources. The ceremony, which was to take place in Sangli – Mandhana’s hometown – on Sunday, has been canceled.
Muchhal is well‑known for his popular Hindi film songs, while Mandhana has just returned from the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 final, where the Indian side edged out South Africa at the DY Patil Stadium in Nerul, Navi‑Mumbai. India’s victory mirrored the men’s team’s triumph over South Africa in the 2024 T20 World Cup final.
Playing a key role in India’s historic first ICC Women’s ODI World Cup win, Mandhana amassed 434 runs across nine innings, the highest tally by an Indian in a single World Cup edition. Her century against New Zealand and solid opening partnerships were crucial to the campaign, and she finished as the top scorer when India lifted the title, defeating South Africa in the final.
In that final, South Africa won the toss and elected to bowl. The Indian opener lineup featured Mandhana and Shafali Verma, who together produced an explosive 104‑run start. Mandhana finished with 45 runs off 58 balls, just shy of a half‑century, while Verma went home with 87 runs from 78 balls, including seven fours and two sixes, helping India set a target of 298—just short of 300.
South Africa struggled again in the chase, and India secured a 52‑run victory. Deepti Sharma delivered a standout all‑round performance, taking five wickets for 39 runs at an economy of 4.11, earning her Player of the Tournament award, while Shafali Verma was named Player of the Match.
