Veteran Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal is speaking out about the buzz around his new film, “The Taj Story,” after a poster stirred up some heated debates online.

Rawal took to X (formerly Twitter) to set the record straight, sharing a disclaimer from the filmmakers. It says the movie doesn’t touch on any religious issues and makes no claims about a Shiv temple inside the Taj Mahal. Instead, the story sticks to historical facts. Rawal urged fans to watch the film before jumping to conclusions: “We kindly request you to watch the film and form your own opinion. Thank you, Swarnim Global Services Pvt. Ltd.”

The controversy kicked off when the film’s poster dropped, showing Rawal gripping the Taj Mahal’s dome with a Shiva idol seemingly placed inside. Social media lit up with discussions, prompting the team to step in and clarify things. Rawal had originally shared the poster himself with a intriguing caption: “What if everything you’ve been taught is a lie? The truth isn’t just hidden; it’s being judged. Unveil the facts with #TheTajStory on 31st October in cinemas near you.” That post has since been deleted.

Back in August, the makers released a teaser on social media. It features Rawal in a courtroom, passionately arguing about the “intellectual erasure” of a community—a glimpse into the film’s bold take on tough questions.

“The Taj Story” promises a gripping social drama that asks: Even 79 years after India’s independence, are we still trapped by intellectual terrorism? Directed and written by Tushar Amrish Goel, the movie stars Rawal alongside Zakir Hussain, Amruta Khanvilkar, Sneha Wagh, and Namit Das.

Fans can catch “The Taj Story” in theaters starting October 31, 2025—perfect timing for those interested in Taj Mahal history and Bollywood’s latest thought-provoking releases.
