Mumbai, Oct 8 – Bhojpuri superstar Pawan Singh is at the center of a fresh controversy after his wife, Jyoti Singh, claimed that the actor had filed a complaint against her for harassment.
Pawan’s close friend and former co‑worker Subhash Singh has stepped forward to defend the singer‑politician and accuse those behind the allegations of a “political conspiracy.”
Subhash, who says he has known Pawan for decades, said he was shocked by the claims and that the charges threaten Pawan’s reputation in both his music career and his political ambitions. “It feels like a plot to tarnish his image,” he told reporters from Mumbai.
The dispute escalated when Jyoti Singh filed a case in the Baliya court over maintenance and alleged domestic abuse. Subhash said the case and the media coverage were orchestrated to hurt Pawan ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He added that the timing—just after the 2024 Bihar state polls—suggests a political motive.
“People who want to stop Pawan from running in the Lok Sabha elections are using the court case as a weapon,” Subhash said. “They’re throwing mud at him in an attempt to silence a strong voice in the Bhojpuri film and music industry.”
Pawan Singh has been a prominent figure in Bhojpuri cinema for more than 25 years. A self‑made artist, he rose from a small village to become a leading singer and a regional politician. Subhash praised him for his hard work, noting that he began singing at age six and has never taken a break from his craft.
Jyoti Singh has publicly accused Pawan of abuse, neglect, and adultery. In her first statement before a court, she cast doubt on his motives and said the couple had been living together until Pawan filed the complaint. The incident came to light after a video surfaced in which Jyoti expressed her unhappiness in front of the singer’s Lucknow home.
Subhash concluded that the allegations are part of a wider pattern: “In politics, artists often face attacks that are less about the truth and more about controlling the narrative.” He urged viewers to look beyond the headlines and consider the history of political interference in the Bhojpuri industry.
Pawan Singh remains in Mumbai, continuing his music schedule while his legal team prepares a defense. The case is expected to move forward in court as the Lok Sabha elections approach, potentially impacting the state’s political landscape.
