Mumbai – Prajakta Koli, the content‑creator‑actress who stars in the Netflix drama “Single Papa,” says that humor often turns the hardest subjects—like single parenting—into something people can actually talk about. “Comedy is always such an easy pill to swallow,” she told LatestNewsX, adding that a tough conversation delivered with a joke is simply more effective, which is why the show’s tone works so well.
On set, Prajakta laughed about the little boy Hami, who brought infectious energy: “I had a lot of fun. He used to look at everyone with big eyes. It felt like he was having so much fun. And it was mind‑blowing.” She went on to say, “Once or twice, Kunale said something to him. And he responded. It was a lovely response. You must watch the show for Hami.”
The series, co‑starring Manoj Pahwa, Kunal Kemmu, Prajakta and Ayesha, follows Gaurav Gehlot—an endearing, kid‑like man still in his “work in progress” emotional phase. His sudden decision to adopt a baby right after his divorce shocks the family into a brief crisis, forcing them to grapple with the idea that a man who still misplaces his socks is now planning to raise a whole child.
“Single Papa” will premiere on Netflix on December 12.
Prajakta first released the short film “Khayali Pulao” in 2020, then appeared in the Netflix series “Mismatched.” In 2022 she was seen in “Jugjugg Jeeyo” and the second season of “Mismatched.” The following year she headlined the theatre‑teleplay “Yeh Shaadi Nahi Ho Sakti,” directed by Akarsh Khurana. She also featured in Anu Menon’s mystery film “Neeyat,” alongside Vidya Balan, Ram Kapoor, Rahul Bose and others. In 2025 she appeared in the horror series “Andhera” and is set to debut in Marathi cinema with “Krantijyoti Vidyalay Marathi Madhyam.”
