Actor Ram Charan kicked off the Archery Premier League 2025 in New Delhi, bringing excitement to fans of Indian sports and Bollywood stars. The event marks India’s first-ever archery league, aiming to spotlight talented archers on a global stage.

At the launch, Ram Charan shared his passion for the sport. “Archery is an iconic sport—it’s part of our history and culture,” he told reporters. “This is a historic event, and I’m thrilled to be the brand ambassador. With your support, we’ll make this an iconic league.”

He highlighted the league’s groundbreaking nature. “There was never an archery league before, and now we’re starting one in India,” Charan said. “We’re proud to support archers worldwide, especially our Indian ones, giving them a huge spotlight. Archery ties back to the Ramayan and Mahabharat, and I even played an archer in my last film, RRR. Indian sports fans, let’s encourage this together.”

Randeep Hooda joined the celebration, praising the initiative. “It’s a fantastic step,” he said in an interview. “Leagues like the IPL give young players international exposure and build our talent pool for global competitions.” Hooda noted the sport’s deep roots in Indian tradition, especially on Dussehra when good triumphs over evil. He’s excited to represent the Delhi team, Prithviraj Yodhas, and promised tough competition.

The league draft on Thursday saw 48 archers split across six franchises. That includes 36 from India and 12 international stars, forming strong squads for the inaugural season, according to the Archery Premier League announcement.

Arjun Munda, president of the Archery Association of India, explained the league’s goals. “India is the first country to launch an archery league,” he told the media. “We want to expose hidden talents—especially from rural areas—to world-class opportunities and popularize archery in India and beyond.” Munda added that selections happened transparently and that the league will help rebuild India’s future in the sport. Looking ahead to the 2028 and 2032 Olympics, they plan to hire a foreign coach for Team India.
