Sheikh Dr Sultan Unveils Massive 51-Volume History Project for Sharjah International Book Fair 2025
In a exciting announcement from Sharjah, UAE, H.H. Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah and a Supreme Council Member, revealed his biggest project yet. This massive 51-volume collection on the history of the Arabian Peninsula and Persia will launch at the 44th Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) in 2025. History lovers and researchers, get ready—this could change how we understand Arab heritage!
Sheikh Dr Al Qasimi shared these details during a lively phone chat on Sharjah Radio and Television’s "Al-Khat Al-Mubashir" program. He spoke with Dr Mohammed Hasan Khalaf, the Director-General of Sharjah Broadcasting Authority. The ruler reflected on his earlier work, the five-volume "History of Al Qawasim," which traces 13 centuries of the Al Qasimi family’s story from 622 AD (the first year of Hijra) to 1825 AD. Now, he’s taking it to the next level with this new archive.
What makes this 51-volume set special? It pulls together rare documents from Dutch, British, French, and Ottoman sources. Sheikh Dr Al Qasimi’s team even accessed hidden archives in Istanbul to gather this treasure trove. "This will be a go-to resource for any researcher," he said. The volumes cover everything from Baghdad to Diriyah, and from Persia to the Gulf. You’ll find fresh insights, especially from French Foreign Ministry records that no one’s explored much before.
Right now, the books are in the final review phase. Sheikh Dr Al Qasimi plans to read and check all 51 volumes himself in the next 90 days. That means they’ll hit the shelves at the Sharjah Book Fair on time. "It’s a real gift for anyone who loves reading and digging into history," he added. Perfect for postgraduate studies, this organized collection offers clear facts on unexplored topics—ideal for universities and forward-thinking scholars.
But that’s not all. Sheikh Dr Al Qasimi also announced another huge project: "The Arabic Encyclopaedia." This will chronicle Arab world events starting from 550 BCE, with super-detailed accounts that honor Arab heritage. "All nations have their history, and I’m building this to serve the Arab world," he explained. It aims to include every key writing on Arab nations, something no other country has seen on this scale. He stressed it’s a team effort, but his personal commitment drives it forward. "God willing, we’ll finish this monumental work soon."
Shifting to everyday life in Sharjah, Sheikh Dr Al Qasimi highlighted how development goes beyond buildings—it’s about social progress. "We must care for our community," he said. He finds joy in seeing people value education, culture, religion, and good ethics. For instance, driving through Kalba and spotting a father strolling with his child while the mother walks beside them shows the success of awareness programs.
In his closing words, Sheikh Dr Al Qasimi offered simple advice for everyone: Keep praying, honor the language of the Quran, and skip the small stuff. "Think before you speak or act. God put us here to build up the earth, not tear it down." He urged people to read more, learn about religion and language, and dive into all kinds of knowledge. "This strengthens individuals, families, and whole communities. May our nation keep choosing what’s good, and may blessings continue, God willing."
