Bollywood star Rani Mukerji stepped away from her busy shoot for “Mardaani 3” to join the launch of Cyber Awareness Month 2025 in Mumbai on Friday. The actress highlighted why staying safe online matters now more than ever, especially for women and children facing rising cyber threats.
Rani, famous for her tough cop role in the hit “Mardaani” film series—the only major female-led action franchise in Indian cinema—has long supported the police’s role in keeping people safe. She shared the stage with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, state Director General of Police Rashmi Shukla, Additional Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Chahal, and actor Akshay Kumar.
“I’m truly humbled to kick off Cyber Awareness Month,” Rani said at the event. “Through my movies, I’ve shown women battling injustice and shielding the vulnerable. I even rushed here straight from the ‘Mardaani 3’ set—it feels surreal. Kudos to the Maharashtra Police for this smart move.”
She spotlighted cyber crimes targeting women and kids, praising the Maharashtra Police cyber cell’s hard work. “These threats are creeping into our homes quietly,” Rani added. “As a woman and a mom, I get how vital awareness is. When families learn to protect themselves and know where to turn for help, that’s when real safety starts.”
Rani thanked Fadnavis, Chahal, and Shukla for leading the charge on cyber safety. She also shouted out government helplines like 1930 and 1945, calling them a “blessing” for quick support against scams and dangers.
“As an actress, I tell stories on screen,” she noted. “But as a woman, mom, and citizen, we all share the duty to stop kids from suffering in silence, women from feeling scared, and families from losing their peace over cyber crime.”
Rani wrapped up with a call to action: “Let’s commit today to stay vigilant, speak out, and unite for a safer online world.”
Fans can catch her next as the fierce cop in “Mardaani 3,” produced by Yash Raj Films and directed by Abhiraj Minawala. The movie hits theaters on February 27, 2026.
