Deepika Padukone posted a photo with JP Nadda and Punya Salila Srivastava on her Instagram, celebrating World Mental Health Day. The Bollywood star announced she has been named the first mental‑health ambassador by India’s Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Her husband, actor Ranveer Singh, congratulated her in the comments, saying, “So proud of you” and adding a heart emoji. In the caption Deepika wrote, “On World Mental Health Day, I am deeply honoured to be appointed as the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s first‑ever Mental Health Ambassador.”
She explained how the government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has put mental health at the center of public health. “Through my own journey and the work we’ve done over the past decade, I’ve seen how powerful it is to build a mentally healthy India,” she said. “I look forward to working with Sri JP Nadda to strengthen the country’s mental health framework.”
Deepika has long spoken out about her own fight with depression, starting nearly a decade ago when she broke the silence on a topic that was still taboo in Hollywood’s world. She has used her platform to raise awareness and reduce stigma around mental illness.
In addition to her advocacy, Deepika remains a top star. She recently appeared in “Singham Again,” which drew about 372 cr around the world, and she’s set to star in Shah Rukh Khan’s “King” and an upcoming film with Allu Arjun directed by Atlee.
This appointment puts her at the forefront of India’s mental‑health movement, a cause she has championed for years.
