The new trailer for Rahul Sadasivan’s horror thriller “Dies Irae” dropped on Saturday, sparking excitement among fans and film lovers. Lead actor Pranav Mohanlal looks on nervously as eerie scenes play out, while a haunting voiceover warns that a trumpet’s sound will shatter tombs and bring the dead to the throne. The trailer, released on the actor’s X timeline, confirms the movie will open worldwide on October 31 and carries an A certificate.
Earlier, the first teaser highlighted a tense conversation between an older woman and a man about a boy who may be “cursed.” This clues that Pranav’s character is the only son of a family that neighbors suspect is cursed. He experiences frightening events but can’t speak out because no one will believe him. “Dies Irae” is based on real incidents and aims to hit screens for Halloween, promising a chilling twist on myth and reality.
The film is made by the same team that created the Malayalam cult classic “Brammayugam,” featuring superstar Mammootty. Principal photography began in late March at Vadakara, Calicut, and wrapped up in April—just 40 days, earlier than planned. Cinematographer Shehnad Jalal and art director Jothish Shankar, who also worked on “Brammayugam,” bring their award‑winning visuals to the new horror. Editor Shafique Mohammed Ali, who cut “Brammayugam,” helps tighten the tense storytelling.
With stars, a celebrated crew, and its sharp release timing, “Dies Irae” is poised to become a must‑watch Halloween film for horror fans everywhere.
